HeLa cell division while confined at 3 µm
Applications of the cell confiner:
1. Study cell dynamics triggered by/under mechanical effects:
b. Cell division
c. Induce autophagy
e. Mechanics of the nucleus
2. Do co-culture of cells
3. Use with special substrates – functionalized, micropatterned, etc.
4. Mimick the natural cell environment
5. Imaging – the confiner is convenient as a complementary tool in multiple and single cell imaging and it is even compatible with high-resolution.
Advantages: all the organelles of the cell are in the same plane of visualization; it decreases the optical aberrations caused by the spherical like shape of the cells.
